With his Internet Opera "Virtopera" Eberhard
Schoener deals again with a typical medium of our time.
The virtual character "Cold Genius" is traveling
around the world to get in touch with people through music.
Live events in Mantua (Italy), Salvador di Bahia (Brazil),
Calcutta (India) and Cologne (Germany) are put on the
Internet. Artists from those countries play with Eberhard
Schoener, Peter Gabriel is participating in a live chat.
The Internet users can take part interactively on that
project. They are writing words to be set to music and
they can decide over the destiny of Cold Genius. The basis
are the four Short-Operas, which he had composed and published.
In Cologne musicians of the live events meet again: Charles
Maxwell and Helen Schneider, Laurence Gien who always
played in Eberhards operas and his friends from Brazil
Mariella Santiago and Wilson Cafe. |
