Hans is staying in Salvador/Brazil for a short time and is giving a party for his friends. For that party he has invited the beautiful singer and dancer Simona. Mr. Strowinkel, Hans' superior and friend, is shocked when he sees that Hans and Simona have fallen in love. The musician Gabi, who also loves Simona, is warning Simona against their passions. Simona and Hans decide to live together but soon he needs to go back to Germany for a short time.

Simona is pregnant and has asked Gabi, her cousin Isabel and a Priest of the Candomble to purify the future nursery. This needs to happen secretly because Hans believes that this African-ritual is pure super-stition. Hans happens to arrive at that very moment and he drives the priest out of the house. Simona cannot forget her love. The priest promises to heal Simona.

Obsessed by Goddess Oxum Simona comes to the place of worship and finds back to her traditional Candomble community.Mr. Strowinkel gets a letter from Hans in which he announces his return to celebrate the Carnival together with his wife. Simona overhears, as Hans says that he wants to forget the past and barely remembers Simona. She runs back to the place of worship to ask the gods to help her. As Hans follows her he realizes,now that he has lost Simona, how much he loves her.
